Smart Telecom is an Irish telecom service provider that has achieved great success in the Business, Government and Residential markets in Ireland since its inception in 2000.

The current period of restructuring is now drawing to a close and the company is transitioning from a public company to a private company owned by the investment company Smart YuRoE Broadband (controlled by Brendan Murtagh). Smart Telecom will now focus on the business and high-end residential markets.
The restructuring of Smart Telecom is led by John F Riordan who took the role of CEO and Chairman in February 2007. Under John's leadership, Smart Telecom has a new and experienced management team.
Previously John was Chairman and CEO of UPC, the largest cable company in Europe. There he was credited with increasing operational profitability from €353M loss in 2001 to a profit in excess of €500M in 2003, and make great improvements in customer service. Prior to UPC, he was Chairman and CEO of Princes Holdings in Ireland.
